The Napoleonic Land Register of Pauillac in 1828 and the first military staff map both show that the current vineyard of Château Fonbadet was entirely planted with vines before 1855.
The position of “De Gères à Fonbadet” was enviable and superior to that of many wines included in the 1855 Classification.

Given the renown of its wines in Bordeaux during the years before the classification, Château Fonbadet would have been well worthy of the official honours of the 1855 Classification.
