With the support of the Pauillac Wine and Tourism Bureau, Château Fonbadet is organising an exceptional day devoted to the bountiful Pauillac terroir on Saturday, October 3, 2009.
During a journey through the vineyards commented by Jean-Pierre Salle, guide and knowledgeable expert in the Médoc terroir, you will discover magnificent landscapes. You will also have the privilege of discovering genuine Médoc culture and history. The agenda will include traditional and historic dishes, tales and legends of the region, the ancestral work of winemakers and the lifestyle of yesteryear. Vineyard and cellar visits, tasting of various vintages and discovery of the alchemy of wine with Pascale Peyronie will highlight a unique and convivial day.
To whet your appetite, let’s take a peek at the menu. First of all, typical cuisine of the Gironde estuary: esquires (Gironde shrimp) and fish cooked in Pauillac wine, followed by dishes in true Médoc tradition: pastis en pot (pork slowly cooked in Fonbadet wine) and mougettes (beans). Fresh, dry or marinated Médoc goat cheese will follow. As an appropriate finishing touch to a time-honoured meal, a honey cake will be served, as honey was a significant source of income in the Landescot Médoc of yesteryear. Naturally, in keeping with tradition, Château Fonbadet, a great Pauillac wine, will delight your senses throughout the meal.
