Although it was coveted by its prestigious neighbours, Château Fonbadet was protected by a family tradition.
The Peyronie family boasts a deep-rooted winemaking history. Bernard Ginestet recorded that the family was present on the Pauillac terroir as early as 1700, which makes it contemporaneous with the Ségur family. Some two hundred years later, at the beginning of the 20th century, Pierre’s great-grandfather was the manager at Château Lafite-Rothschild. During the same period, the grandfather of his wife Jany held the same position… at Château Mouton-Rothschild.
After working alongside her father Pierre for more than 15 years, Pascale, a law graduate, took over the estate, combining respect for tradition with the use of modern techniques.
